What are Tags in Live Chat?

Tags are labels used in live chat systems to organize, categorize, and manage conversations and visitors more efficiently. From a support perspective, tags help agents quickly understand the context of a chat, identify user needs, and prioritize or group conversations based on specific topics, issues, or statuses.


Tag Features Overview

The system provides full tag management capabilities, including:

  • Creating tags

  • Editing tags

  • Changing tag colors

  • Archiving tags

  • Creating tag types

  • Exporting tags

  • Assigning tags to visitors and chats


Creating Tags

Users can create new tags to classify chats or visitors.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to the Tags section.

  2. Click on “Add Tag”.

  3. Enter the tag name.

  4. Select a color for the tag.

  5. (Optional) Assign a tag type.

  6. Save the tag.


Archiving Tags

Tags that are no longer in use can be archived instead of deleted.

Key points:

  • Archived tags are not visible in active use.

  • They remain in the system for historical data.

  • They can be restored if needed.

Steps:

  1. Select the tag.

  2. Click “Archive”.


Exporting Tags

The system allows exporting tags for reporting or external use.

Export includes:

  • Tag name

  • Color

  • Type

  • Status (active/archived)

Steps:

  1. Go to the Tags section.

  2. Click “Export”.

  3. Download the file.


Assigning Tags

Tags can be attached to both visitors and chats.
